Upcoming Workshops

The Kevin Welch Songwriting Workshop is a beautiful weekend retreat that will inspire and support you in your creative, musical efforts.

Come join our tribe in the beautiful Texas hill country, just an hour south of Austin. We'll show you a weekend of writing, playing, listening and re-writing. We love what we do so much, that we can guarantee you will walk away feeling newly inspired in the art of songwriting. Plus you'll have a whole new set of amazing friends with whom you can collaborate on future writing. We've hosted over 100 writers of all ages and stages, and they continue to come back again and again!

What other tribe members have to say

Kevin’s workshop is where inspiration and craft come together in a caring, fun, beautiful atmosphere.”
Kevin is a sensai of writing and a deep, clear spring of wisdom and inspiration. His work has made me better at my work.
WALT WILKINS, Fellow Sensai
When Kevin’s son, Dustin, and I were writing songs as kids, he knew how to listen well, hone our early songs, and encourage us along our musical paths.
CARY ANN HEARST, Shovels & Rope
Kevin is not only a gentleman and a scholar, he’s one of my favorite songwriters in the world and one helluva fine teacher.
ELIZA GILKYSON, Songwriting Goddess

JOINOur tribe sticks together. We songswap at night, listen to Kevin and our guest teachers play for us, and often go hear music at local venues together.  Our retreat feeds the soul, so come join our tribe!

A little piece of Hill Country heaven.

Whether you’ve never written a song in your life, or you’re a pro needing a little bump, we’d love to have you join a session. Our workshop takes place at Kevin’s private home in the Texas Hill Country. You’ll have access to the house, the cabin, the pool and hot tub, the tipi and the woods, and the peaceful Blanco River within walking distance. Wimberley features so many beautiful little B&Bs and guest cabins, and the town square is famous for it’s old Texas charm.

  • LEARN . . . everything from vital lyric devices, melody, delivery, lyric structure and rhythm, to performance techniques, Nashville shorthand, and the difference between performance royalties and publishing royalties.
  • CREATE . . . if you are a seasoned professional or an amateur musician, come listen to your creative side. Anything goes with us, and we love it when we get musicians in all stages of development.
  • REJUVENATE . . . turn off your cell phone, look at the stars, connect with other musicians and enjoy our soulfully-prepared food. The weekend is about you.
